Washington January 1 an amendment to the immigration law proposes fines on steamship lines that land insane or mentally unfit passengers. The measure cites recent cases of mentally unfit individuals landed from European ships and not identified until they had established residence, with repatriation costs borne by the United States.
The mining property of Capt B W S aid Mrs Jatinaton chiefs is located on the peninsula and has been purchased by English capitalists connected with J H Shaw of London and E B Hodgson of Victoria. They plan large scale dredging operations and testing ahead of full development, aiming to unlock rich gold deposits. The deal, long contemplated, was finalized recently with significant financial backing. A Nome basketball game against Port Davis is noted, along with a radiator banquet scheduled for Saturday night.

Kelly of Fort Davis and Arthurs of San Francisco meet again Monday at A. B. Hall. The event is part of a benefit program for Frank Connolly featuring Peterson vs Walthers in wrestling and a boxing bout Otis Osgood versus Gene Rose.
