The freighter Iowa of States Steamship Co. was wrecked on Peacock Spit during a southeastern hurricane. All 34 crewmen are believed drowned. only a few bodies recovered as Coast Guard and ships search the wreckage and river channels.

Nome man killed in Seattle auto accident
Victor E. Mickelson, 31, of Nome was killed when the car he rode in overturned over a 29 foot embankment near Seattle. Anne S. Ulrickson and Mrs. Alice Mickelson were injured. Arne Ullrickson, the driver, was also hurt. The group was returning from a Nome wedding. Mickelson had worked for Hammon Consolidated Gold Fields at Nome and lived in Seattle for two months. He is survived by brother Carl Mickelson. Funeral plans not announced. Ulrickson is the driver and son of Mr. and Mrs. Ed Ulrickson.

The Alaska Game Commission declares an open season on beaver in Bristol Bay Kuskokwim and lower Yukon and on the Tanana river drainages for spring 1936. The bag limit is ten beaver per trapper with about 120000 skins expected.

Avalanche Buries Man On Mount Baker Slope
Arthur Granlund, 45, is buried by an avalanche on Mount Baker above the Mount Baker Lodge. His body is recovered four hours later by companions Francis Braves and Barlow Henderson who escape injury. All three men from Bellingham planned to reach the slide top using Brund’s escalator device. He leaves a widow and two daughters.
