Edmonton January 4 A new low cold weather record was established at Great Bear Lake on New Year s Day with temperatures reaching seventy six degrees below zero The previous record was sixty eight degrees below zero at Mayo Yukon Territory on December 20 last year according to the official weather bureau report.

Former U S Commissioner F A Paine Dies in Juneau
F A Paine aged 68 former U S Commissioner died at Keku Island where he ran a fox ranch. He fell ill en route aboard the Tallapoosa and died of pneumonia.
