Telegram from Sitka reports A L Carpenter died yesterday at the Pioneers Home. Known as Carp in Nome he had returned from St Paul Missouri to seek recovery from paralysis and taught piano in Nome during the gold rush era. Survived by a widow and two children in Vancouver.

A truck carrying Mats nuska potatoes and Alaska mon arrived in Washington after a trip from Ketchikan. Delegates from Matanuska Valley delivered a sack of potatoes to WPA Administrator Harry Hopkins at the WPA offices, then accompanied the truck to the Capitol where three bushels of potatoes and seven cans of sabnoy were received. The next day a delegate presented a bushel to the White House, and Miss M. A. Le Hand sent a note from the President expressing appreciation for the gesture. The truck was ferried from Ketchikan to Prince Rupert before continuing.
