Nome City Council Last Night Meeting Highlights
The Nome City Council met in regular session approving bills and finances, receiving communications, and hearing Father Cunningham thank the city for lumber aiding church sidewalk construction. Fire Chief Laws called the temporary federal building a serious fire hazard due to wiring. The council offered the old school building for federal offices, condemned the Hammond Company building as a fire risk, and accepted Ben Gillette’s $50 offer for twenty feet of a lot to build a garage. Engineer Lyle reported a revetment survey along Nome’s south side. Colonel Wild would not advance the project through his department but urged direct talks with Delegate Dimond. The wholesale liquor license for Nome Liquor Store, H. Greenberg, and Sol Lewis was referred to the liquor committee.
