A Navy plane crash killed six sailors, while House Democrats urged against a fall special session to avoid party dissention. They argued a session on wage, hour, and farm legislation would yield little practical benefit and could cause harm.
San Diego August 24 Associated Press rescue teams hunted the wreckage of a $150000 Navy flying boat following a night landing crash in San Diego Bay. Two bodies were recovered. four others remain missing, including three officers. It marks the first disaster affecting the Navy's flying boats, long used for mass flights to Honolulu and the Canal Zone.
