Airliner crashes into power line near Daytona Beach

A fourteen passenger Eastern Airlines plane bound from Chicago to Miami crashed after takeoff in Daytona Beach killing four and injuring six. The aircraft struck a power pole and a power line fuse blew. Chief Pilot Stew Dietz copilot Robert Reed and passenger Petey Philpot died, others injured. The crash occurred around 11 p.m. last night as the plane faced power line failures and resultant fire. In Washington, the House sent the Senate’s lower court proposal bill to a conference committee for final agreement, expected to pass soon.

Roosevelt Says War In China Is Very Disturbing

President Roosevelt at a press conference called the Sino Japanese conflict in North China disturbing and said he will stay near the White House to monitor developments. Senator Pittman urged the United States to stay out of far eastern hostilities and rebuked calls for immediate action under neutrality laws.

Nanuk Returns to Nome From St Lawrence Island Voyage
