Pacific News Service reports a German Zeppelin raiding the east coast of England was hit by a high angle gun and fell into the North Sea near shore. The Times notes no casualties from the raid and mentions property damage with the wreck near London.
Vienna Aug 3 An official admiralty announcement says the Italian submarine Giacinto Pullino has been captured by Austrian naval forces in the Adriatic. The large Italian vessel was taken with all crew after being disabled by gunfire.
A White Star Line note says the Brittanic, a 37 000 ton liner bound for Europe, has been submarined at sea. Officials doubt the report and suspect the message may refer to another ship with the same name.
Lloyds announces the sinking of the steamship Brittanic a 1400 ton vessel in the North Sea settling reports it was the White Star liner Brittanic. Lloyds also notes the British sailing ship Mardavet Sutton was sunk in the same area.
