A. P. A. Service Seattle reports that after speaking to a Tacoma crowd Bryan arrived in Seattle and stated he does not believe the prohibition question will be a factor in the 1916 campaign. He planned to deliver a political address that afternoon.
Washington reports official word that General Gonzales led Carranza forces to reoccupy Mexico City from Zapata’s Villa troops. The capital is quiet with no disorders, Carranza pursuing retreating Zapata forces as they push to restore coast communications and ease the local food shortage.
Mrs Lesov Tozier former Nome resident and barber shop owner was arrested in Seattle on a charge of brandishing a revolver during a confrontation with Patrolman Burgess. Burgess says Tozier held him up with a gun and delivered harsh remarks about policemen.
The widow of Becker denounces Governor Whitman over her husband’s execution. She alleged the governor refused clemency, while police and the public disputed an inscription on the coffin’s plate. Police eventually persuaded the widow to remove the offensive inscription before burial in Brooklyn.
