Britain France and Italy sent a firm note urging that Germans be given their share on the Memel statute directorate as Lithuanians now control administration. The protest highlights the treatment of the German element in Memel and emphasizes the three powers as guarantors of the statute.

BUENOS AIRES April 22 Paraguayan and Bolivian troops fight a bloody battle along a 120 mile front in Santa Cruz as observers view it as a decisive chapter in the war.
A man identified as William Winse was arrested after attempting to seize a train in Canada. Police say he drew a pistol, forced the conductor, and fled the tender area before leaping off near Ar dnode. The incident prompted an investigation into the motive and any connections to wider threats.
An eight o'clock failure in two flues of the old boiler at the Public School forced heat to be cut and classes dismissed for the day. Repairs started after the boiler cooled. classes resume at nine o'clock tomorrow. The report also notes a Senate Finance Committee vote on NRA extension with changes.
Formosa Japan reports a devastating quake on April 22. About 2711 deaths and eleven thousand injuries are tallied. An estimated 250,000 people are homeless as several sun dried brick houses collapsed. The disaster affects Formosa and nearby areas.
The April 22 quake struck Taihoku and Shineika, with most victims of Chinese origin after Formosa’s 1895 transfer from China to Japan. The area spans about forty miles across, damaging numerous villages. epicenter near Toyoyhara was six miles underground, causing heavy destruction. Few Americans or Europeans were harmed.

Chicago April 22 Apparent illness driven William Gardiner a bank teller shot and killed his daughter Rite twenty and her mother Gerald fourteen and wounded another son Kenneth seven. The killer wife was ill and slept during the shooting. Two natives reported John Land missing earlier found alive in a cabin owned by Paul Rasmus on Aurora Creek Kangarok about thirty miles north of Land’s Dahl Creek cabin. They said Land appeared in good health with no stated reason for his location. The natives brought fresh killed reindeer meat to Nome.
Nome reports the Swanberg Edman nuptials with Axel Edman of Are Sweden and Miss Mildred Maynor as maid of honor. The ceremony at the Swanbergs home was officiated by Re Norman McCay with Miss Maynor as bridesmaid, Nels Swanberg Sr. host father and Mrs Jessie Lehman singing. A reception followed and a wedding supper was held that evening. Also a PAA Fairchild plane arrived from Fairbanks carrying J Davick and other passengers, with plans to bring mail later this week.
