The NRA announced that Montgomery Ward and Co. loses its Blue Eagle for failing to pay its share of the retail code administration costs. The agency said it sent a March 26 letter demanding equitable contributions and received no response.
Rear Admiral Arthur Willard died in Washington after a brief illness aged 65. He was born in Kirksville Missouri and served in the U.S. Navy. He held senior commands and was widely cited for his service during a long career.

Federal agents hear new chapter in the Lindbergh kidnaping case as Rev. Michael Kallek testifies Hauptmann studied blueprints and was seen riding near the Hopewell estate. Kallek, once pastor near Trenton, describes Hauptmann as a slick character and says he reported the information to authorities.
Pilot Al Monsen arrives in Nome from Golovin after weather delays carrying a large quantity of mail. Passenger Charles Miller, advance agent for Alaska Steamship Co., prepares summer sailings from Seattle. Monsen departs for return flight with more mail and express.
The 1934 Nome Common Council will convene at 8 p.m. in Mayor Rex F. Swartz's office to consider municipal business before adjourning for ten days and resuming with a special session later.
Vic Ross flies from Fairbanks to cover the April 2 city elections. He expects to return today as the council lineup is set with new members Lucas and Ferro. Gus Wheeler R E Pherrin and E V are listed as passengers during the voyage.

The Hill Billy Orchestra played to applause while prizes from The Bon Marche Stores A Polet and T Lehmann went to Mr and Mrs Haraye Homer Robarts and Mrs Donald Lyle. The couple received congratulations from a charivari party and faced light hazing before joining the reception. Sponsors Johnson Humling and Slack thanked organizers for successful event.

Nazi party swept the Volkstag election in Free City Danzig as 139000 votes favored them out of 205279 cast. The remaining ballots went to the centrists and Catholic party, totaling 80030. The Nazis failed to secure a two thirds majority, marking their first serious setback since Hitler's rise.
Warren Delano Robbins, a U S diplomat and first cousin of President Roosevelt, died in New York on Sunday after contracting pneumonia following a severe cold. A fifty year old veteran diplomat, he served in the diplomatic service since Harvard graduation in 1908 with postings in South America and Europe.
Ben Franklin Gillettee and Irene Jeanne Major announced their marriage on March 20 in Bellingham Washington. They plan to reside in Nome Alaska by May 1. Gillettee is linked to C L Calkins in mining near Anvil Creek. The couple may travel by plane soon and leave Seattle on April 20.
Pilot Hans Mirow of Mirow Air Service flew to Teller yesterday with Lars Tjernagel as a passenger. He departed again this morning for Fairbanks via Koyukuk Station and Hughes on the Koyukuk River, with Tjernagel continuing to Fairbanks. Mirow plans to return tomorrow from the interior city and fly north.
A powerful tornado swept Louisiana Mississippi and Alabama causing 26 deaths and about 200 injuries. In Gloster Mississippi 1910s era counts note 87 homes destroyed and seven hundred residents affected with four whites and four Black individuals among the dead.
Ato simple but impressive ceremony at the home of Mr and Mrs William J H Bloom on Saturday evening April 6 officiated by Rev Norman McCay. Miss Elizabeth Lunsberry, a bride from Coorata Washington, wore an apricot gown and carried a shower bouquet. she was given away by Edward Steffen with Richard Ludwig as best man. The couple will reside in the Hammon Building after Wednesday.
Adolph Debs publisher of The New York Times died in a sanatorium after a cerebral hemorrhage. He was among the leading figures of American journalism and helped shape the nation’s great newspaper.
In Seattle a blast at Commercial Boiler Works killed Ernest McDonald aged 45 and critically injured his brother Charles. They were testing compressed air tanks when one burst, propelling them several yards. The explosion was blamed on overpressure during injection.
