Mary Palmer Dies After Long Suffering at Mission
Mary Palmer aged 56, born April 3, 1895, died May 1 at the mission after months of military tuberculosis. She entered the mission at age 10, lived near Knik with her mother and stepfather George Palmer, and left behind half siblings John and Ann Palmer at Cushman Indian School. Mary was devout, skilled in writing, endured fifteen neck and breast abscesses daily care, and is remembered for her fortitude.
