Wireless Station Planned on Wood Island Near Alaska
Rumors of a wireless station fade as the U S Steamer Buffalo anchors opposite Wood Island. Navy Lieutenant E H H Widd leads a crew to select the site with Kodiak considered earlier. Buildings are renovated and new masts plus a 5 kilowatt generator power operations. Substation at Kodiak operates with Miss Hurt as operator. Buffalo to move to Piblof Island then Alaska sites before returning to complete installations.
