Police recovered a missing cash register from the Green Lantern Inn in Webster along a creek bank in Simpson, fueling arson suspicions about the June 15 fire that destroyed the road house. Sheriff Hulley said investigators from the state Fire Marshal would determine if arson caused the blaze.
The House Ways and Means Committee endorsed President Carter's crude oil tax with refunds to adults, about 22 dollars in 1978, plus special payments for Social Security and welfare recipients.
