Flu bug hits Taylor County schools and hospital
Six and a half percent of Flemington Elementary students were absent on Friday while higher rates appeared across Taylor County schools. Grafton High and Middle Schools reported 13 and 11 percent absences respectively. Hospital officials considered visitor restrictions as influenza cases rise. Health officials note the flu is spreading and vaccines may not cover the local strains, urging rest, fluids, and medical advice to prevent complications.

Youth Burned In City Wooded Fire Behind Motel Lodge
A youth, Steve Lance, about 12, was hospitalized for burns after a fire in a wooded area behind Crislip Motor Lodge along Route 50 Friday evening.
