Tentative agreement reached in West Virginia Plastics strike
Negotiators for West Virginia Plastics Inc and United Steel Workers Local 15058 reached a tentative three year contract after a five hour session. Union leaders said they would recommend ratification Sunday with production to resume Monday if approved at a 2 PM ratification at the Taylor County Courthouse. Pickets will stay at the plant until final ratification. The strike began January 31 over hospitalization, wages, and pension benefits.

A Thursday blaze destroyed a mobile home in Fairmont leaving Gary Jones his wife and three children homeless. Damages tallied at about 16000 dollars as 12 firefighters and two trucks battled the flames reported at 815 PM. Donations of clothing and belongings are being requested. WVU may have fix for troubled PRT system
