Not Guilty Plea in Harris Murder Case

Louis A. Harris Jr. entered a not guilty plea at a Taylor County Circuit Court preliminary hearing for the Sept. 24 shooting of John Renick a 1 year old Fairmont gas station attendant. Prosecutor John Waters says Harris will stand trial in the April term.

Private garbage contract discussed in Grafton meeting

City officials discussed a possible private garbage collection contract with residents Thomas Mason and Ronald McWilliams. If approved, four city workers would shift to the private firm, monthly charges would rise to 2.65, and collection days and routes would stay the same. Taylor County Emergency Squad aims for 10000 radiothon goal

The Taylor County Emergency Squad seeks 10000 in donations for its 15th annual Radiothon to be broadcast 1 to 6 p.m. Sunday February 27 from the squad headquarters. Meals will be served for 2 dollars adults and 1 dollar children with dinner deliveries available. The event includes local entertainment and interviews with community leaders and officials.
