Haymond water district discussion set for September 2
Haymond residents will join Taylor County Commissioners on September 2 to gauge interest in creating a Haymond water service district. About 200 residents could be served, with funding to come from grants or loans. The meeting is preliminary and HUD funding for West Hills and Park View remains under review.

Toll climbs as flood death toll feared to rise in Big Thompson
In Loveland Colorado authorities shifted from rescue to recovery after the Big Thompson Canyon flash flood. Sheriff Robert Watson warned the death toll could reach as high as 200 with 77 confirmed dead, 260 injured, and about 599 unaccounted for while survivors were ferried to safety by military helicopters.

Sunday incidents in Grafton included a Gremlin leaving the road on Simpson Street at 6:39 p.m. Betty Jo Mayle 20 of 316 Barrett Street was cited for failure to maintain control. A second crash on Camp Towles Road at 8:47 p.m. involved Tory Shoemaker 24 of Rt. 2 and Robert McCue 49 of Parkview with damages of 450 and 200 dollars respectively. no injuries or citations were reported. Kingwood park plan discussed at 7 p.m. council meeting at City Hall with a new recreation complex funded by a Bureau of Outdoor Recreation grant.
