Brother Slays Sister in Play in Old Town Albuquerque
In Albuquerque on June 17 a tragic accident claims the life of Fabriola Sanchez four, killed by her eleven year old brother Abilo while playing with a gun in the kitchen. The weapon was allegedly handled by Abilio who, posing as an officer, threatened to arrest his sister as they played. The shot shattered Fabriola’s forehead, and despite a physician’s arrival, she died shortly after. The family, living near the plaza by the church of San Felipe de Neri, faces shock and grief as Abilio reels from the sudden calamity.

Safford to Resign as Traveling Auditor in New Mexico
Santa Fe reports Traveling Auditor Charles V. Safford will resign July 1 to join the Bank of Commerce in Albuquerque. District Clerk John Joerns of Las Vegas is expected to succeed him, with Probate Clerk E G Twitty of Raton possible to follow. Safford departed for Taos this morning and Governor Mills has not yet received the resignation.

Senate committee to debate flood statehood next Friday
Washington June 17 A senate committee on territories held an animated discussion on the Flood statehood resolution with Judge A B Fall ex Governor Curry and Hon Charles A Spiess taking part. Executives session set a Friday vote on New Mexico and Arizona and a report to the Senate the following Saturday. Governors Mills election proclamation may come in early July.

Home Grown Currants Impress Valley Farmers
Mrs. A. W. Lentz brought a harvest of currants from a farm southwest of town. The three foot high bushes and large diameter branches are heavy with red berries. Though smaller than last year, the yield is greater overall, drawing surprise from farmers and their wives. With a little care, currants could mean plenty of pies and jelly. Yum, Yum.

Judge Ira A. Abbott sustained the demurrer in Geo. S. Klock versus Howard A. Mann quo warranto case over the district attorney office for Bernalillo Sandoval and Valencia counties.
