Fatal Fight Between Confederate Veterans in Austin
Ed ward Ryan, a Confederate veteran, was fatally shot at the Confederate home in Austin on June 2. John P. South, a shoemaker at the home and over 70, is under arrest for the crime after a dispute over noise. Sheriff Matthews says Ryan attacked South with a lead pipe, and South shot him. Ryan then threw South from a window, both men over 70.
