Taft wins the presidency with a guaranteed minimum of 298 electoral votes as Roosevelt trails. New York endorses Taft with a 54,000 plurality, signaling broad support and a decisive statewide showing.
Nationwide returns show Taft leading in several states with large margins, while Roosevelt-supported results shift in New York. New York Governor Hughes secured a decisive statewide victory, and Indiana and Nebraska margins favored Taft. Local counts indicate heavy turnout across California, Pennsylvania, and Ohio with mixed outcomes for Republicans and Democrats.
Dispatches report Taft leading Pennsylvania by about 400,000 and New Hampshire showing a 20,000 plurality for Taft as returns come in. Roosevelt appears ahead in some regions, while New York and Ohio show tight races. West Virginia and North Dakota also indicate Republican strength as late counts roll in.
Election returns from Branford Shore Town and surrounding towns show Taft leading Roosevelt and Robertson ahead of Lilley with Branford backing Taft. The election results show Lilley elected governor by a 16 500 plurality. The Whale Tap returns 38 000 votes as evidence of Republican posting across the ballot. The ticket lists 18 Republicans elected, indicating gains in both House and Senate.
Connecticut voters delivered a sweeping Republican victory with Taft carrying the state by a large plurality and George Lilley winning the governorship by about 15,000 votes. All five Congressmen were elected Republican, and the House gains numbered a dozen to fifteen seats. Local towns like Rockville and Willimantic saw Republican gains while Rockville’s efforts failed.
