He had complained of not feeling well on Tuesday and did not respond in the morning. Medical examiner Bartlett ruled death from heart disease. He had no known relatives in the city.

Indian captured oar maker Hensley dies by self inflected shot
James Hensley, eighty seven, an oar maker born in Poughkeepsie, died after shooting himself in the head at his New Haven home. He was once captured with a companion by Indians in the West, lived as a prisoner for years, and later returned to marry a white woman, having several children. A 0:47 express train struck Councilman SWillam HW Smith and his daughter as they rode a milk wagon across Crows street. They were found unconscious and rushed to City Hospital with Calvin Smith suffering severe scalp wounds and his daughter a severe bruise on the left hip. The wagon was demolished while the horse escaped uninjured. The two are expected to recover.
