Copter loses top in close collision with power lines

A Missoula helicopter piloted by Wayne Miller clashed with power lines near Anaconda delaying a dam inspection. The Plexiglass bubble top torn away and sparks flew within inches of the fuel tanks. Miller suffered a chin cut and piloted the craft to a roadside stop before being towed back to Missoula.

Titan 3 rocket deploys four military satellites in space

Cape Kennedy launch of a Titan 3 sent four Defense Department satellites into multiple orbits up to 22 300 miles. The mission, described by an Air Force spokesman as flawless, featured the space switch engine placing LES6 and three other payloads into near circular and elliptical paths.

Brinckerhoff to Step Down Parkinson to Head Anaconda

C Jay Parkinson will become chairman and chief executive officer of Anaconda Co. on January 1, 1969 succeeding Charles M Brinckerhoff who will retire after 42 years with the company. Parkinson has risen through the ranks since 1955 and has served as president since 1964 while Brinckerhoff remains a director and executive committee chairman.
