Inmate Dies After Self-Inflicted Lacerations at Butte Jail
A detention officer found an inmate unconscious and not breathing Tuesday morning. Police say the cuts were self inflicted. The inmate died shortly after arrival at St. James Hospital. Agents from the Montana Division of Criminal Investigation will lead a full inquiry. The coroner will send the body to the Montana State Crime Lab for autopsy to determine the manner of death. The inmate’s name is not released pending relatives’ notification.
