Prison raised birds released across Montana wildlife areas
The first crop of pheasants raised at Montana State Prison were released this week on wildlife management areas statewide ahead of the youth hunt. Adam Grove released about 45 birds at Lake Helena with another 135 planned at Canyon Ferry. FWP says the effort aims to recruit new hunters rather than boost pheasant numbers, and hens were included in the releases.
