In Enid Oklahoma Mrs Dolly Douthitt 60 fired at US commissioner H Z Wedgwood after a judge ruled in his favor. The first bullet struck Wedgwood in the abdomen and a second shot missed District Judge Arthur Sutton.
Dillon marked its golden anniversary with a colorful citywide pageant. About sixty floats and entries showcased Beaverhead County history and notable figures from early days to the present. The main event began at 1 PM and drew wide spectator interest.
The forecast calls for mostly fair skies in eastern Montana with unsettled conditions in the west on Thursday and Friday. Temperatures rise somewhat Thursday in the eastern and southern portions.

In Baker Montana on September 24 authorities report Fallon county farmer Tom Lane confessed to killing Vincent Butler a barber and hiding his body in a dry creek bed after transporting it in the back of his coupe for two days. Police seek Alf Olson who vanished on August 31 as part of the case.

Will Rogers states he briefly introduced Clara Bow to Camnera Nevada while she dined with his party and reportedly lost money at gambling tables. He notes Bow’s new boyfriend Rex Bell worked with his film crew near Camnera and that he himself left after dinner with minimal details on Bow’s gambling or payments.

Wilbur G. Arnold, 36, news editor of the Montana Standard, died last night at 11 30 after a three week illness at a local hospital. He came to Butte 18 months ago from Grand Forks North Dakota and was believed to be recovering before a relapse. He leaves three sons Wilbur Jr 14 and John and Paul 3%. His wife died three years ago and he had relatives in the East. The obituary notes the continuation on page 15 column 1.
Northwestern Universitys Beta Alpha Lambda Delta fraternity with its bald headed members disbands as there were no prospective members registered this fall. The campus feature had long been known for its shiny heads and appears unable to continue without new pledges.
The body of Joseph Hanlon 44 Billings livestockman and treasurer of Montana's Republican state central committee died in Denver from apoplexy. He was headed home to Billings for burial. Hanlon born Philadelphia June 19 1866 worked for Bert Shorey and later ran his own business. He was active politically but never sought office. Survived by his divorced wife Mary two children two brothers Tom and Larry and sister Mrs Charles McGarity.
Dieudonné Coste and Maurice Bellonte, the two aviators who completed the first Paris to New York flight, arrived in Salt Lake City to acclaim. A crowd cheered as they were escorted to a civic banquet, then planned a 7 a.m. departure to Boise and Seattle on their transcontinental tour.
Turati resigns as secretary general of the fascist party after 39 years and is replaced by Giovanni Giuriatti. The national directorate also steps down and will be replaced by the fascist grand council at its October meeting. Costanzo Ciano and former minister Alberto Stefani named to the council by Mussolini.
Helena September 24 Dr W F Cogswell of the state board of health urged assumption of complete federal control over the battle against Rocky Mountain spotted fever. He said the disease is spreading and has been found in 11 states with Nebraska reporting two cases as the latest invasion.
The Butte Chamber of Commerce reviews affiliating with the National Better Business Bureau. The matter was discussed by the better business committee and will go to the executive board at Friday’s Silver Bow club luncheon. The bureau provides information on shady operators and advertising practices to protect communities and members.
