Butte and Silver Bow county welcome Alfred E. Smith as Democratic presidential nominee arrives at 2 p m. The governor will be escorted through the city by a 100 car motorcade with 350 reception committee members. Schools and businesses close for the parade and the visit, with mine whistles signaling the train’s approach.
Detectives at the Riverside chicken ranch connected with Gordon Northcott and his mother Louisa Northcott disclosed a chicken feed formula on a tablet listing ingredients like wheat bran bone water and human bodies. The formula, found last week, was kept secret until investigators left for Vancouver awaiting extradition papers. They believed the feed formula pointed to a grisly disposal method.

Here is a condensed schedule for today’s reception of Governor and Mrs Alfred E Smith and their party in Butte. The train arrives at Great Northern station at 2 p m with Smith’s car at the platform end. After a one hour parade through downtown, the Al Smith Special departs Northern Pacific station at 3 p m. All schools and businesses close. A motorcade of 100 cars forms at noon on East Broadway near Arizona street. A 350 member reception committee with band and police escort will accompany the candidate during the parade.

Leonard McDougall and Lyman Harley, both of Butte, are held in Bozeman on burglary charges involving Gallatin county high school. Chief Jere Murphy arrested Frank Florries after he was found without his suit and in possession of stolen clothing tied to a Princess Dye house burglary. Florries confessed to the theft with Julius Ensioso, who was later arrested with about a dozen suits found in his room. The entry involved sawn bars and includes a cache of one hundred men’s suits and twenty five dresses.
