Viet Cong guerrillas attacked a U S outpost at Dinh Thanh Thon about 50 miles west of Saigon with cannons and mortars. Special forces repelled the attack in an hour long fight with no casualties reported. Government officials note increased Viet Cong harassment around perimeter defenses of Saigon. A separate Red force confronted an outpost 130 miles southwest of Saigon Wednesday night and were driven off by artillery fire.

Great Falls man killed on bicycle and policeman dies in crash
A Great Falls man, David Burnett, 31, was killed when struck by a car while riding a bicycle without lights on 10th Ave South. His son suffered injuries. The driver was Laura R. Sickler, 41. In a separate incident, John C. Jacobs Jr., 41, a Great Falls police officer, died in a one car crash north of Dutton after skidding off Highway 91. Jacobs is survived by his wife and daughter.
