Retired General Charles H. Martin Dies at 82
Charles H. Martin 82 retired major general of the U S Army, former Oregon congressman and governor, died at home in Portland at 6 05 p m Sunday. He served in the Philippines in 1898 the Boxer Rebellion and World War I commanding the Blackhawk division and the Fifth Corps in the Argonne. He served two terms in Congress and was elected Oregon governor in 1934 at age 71. He failed renomination in 1938. His widow a daughter and two sons survive.
