Sudeten German Frontier Violence Reported by DNB
Official dispatches from the German news agency DNB claim Czechoslovak troops fired on celebrating Sudeten Germans at the Eger frontier district, killing 16 and wounding many as troops re-occupied evacuated areas. Reports allege fire came from armored cars at 4 p.m. in towns including Koenigsberg Graslitz and Falkenau.

Steward Mine to Resume Production at Anaconda Company

One Killed In Fort Peck Dam Collapse

William McCrone of Butte Montana faced final arguments in his appeal against the Internal Revenue Service in the ninth district of the federal circuit court in Portland Oregon. He had been found in contempt by a Montana federal district court for refusing to answer questions by an IRS agent citing self incrimination concerns and was jailed in Silver Bow county until released on 7500 dollar bail.

Encephalitis Claims Rancher in Race Track Area
Warren Peterson aged 38 of Race Track died in a local hospital. He is the tenth Montana victim in a sleeping sickness epidemic that has infected 41 people statewide. Peterson, born September 13 1900 in Corvallis, moved to Deer Lodge valley in 1904 and was an elder in the re organized Church of Latter Day Saints. He left a wife Mary and two children Dorothy and Leonard, plus two brothers and two sisters as survivors.

Prison-Made Guillotine Plot Foiled at Folsom Prison
Warden Clyde I. Plummer says eight life-term inmates in solitary confinement foiled an escape plan at Folsom Prison. Convicts crafted a scissors knife like a guillotine with two 13 inch blades, braided rubber bands as a spring, and a trigger to decapitate Captain of the Guard William Ryan to force a breakout. The weapon was found in H. G. Wallace’s cell before action could be taken.

Coroner's jury absolves blame in Brawley train crash

Bridge Insurance Premium Would Cost State Big Sum
Helena reports John M. Wheeler of the state highway commission warned that paying a 120000 premium on a 12000000 insurance policy for state bridges could divert about a quarter of a million dollars from construction. He noted the 120000 payment covers the state's 44 percent share of a federal aid project, becoming larger when the 56 percent federal portion is included, in a bid to block the premium payment to Minneapolis and Marine Insurance Co.
