Charles Reed, 20, of 823 Empire in Butte died at 9 50 p m when a big game rifle discharged while he tried to remove it from a car in the driveway. The accident occurred after he and Bud Byrd returned from a hunting trip. Deputy Coroner Leo Jacobson said the gun fired as the trigger caught on a seat cushion, striking Reed in the chest. An autopsy was planned. no inquest. Reed was a Barney School of Commerce student in Denver and had been living with a step brother Vern Boston. Funeral arrangements awaited at Richards Funeral Home.
