Two Killed When Crusader Plane Crashes Into Home
In Staten Island a Lockheed Crusader monoplane crashed through a home's roof while en route to Detroit for an American Legion event. Labor leader Peter J. Brady and 60 year old Maria Tritto died. Pilot James Goodwin Hall escaped with minor injuries as a gasoline blaze leveled the house and a nearby bungalow.

W M Madsen of Portland Oregon maneuvered his damaged war time water cooled engine plane to a road near Elk Park as an emergency landing field. He avoided the car but the plane struck trees and telephone poles, tearing off lower wings and landing gear. Madsen escaped with no injuries and hitchhiked back to Butte to continue to Great Falls. The wreck remains beside the road.

Trio Flees Dillon Jail Using Can Opener Break
Three Beaverhead county jail inmates escaped by chipping away two stone blocks with a can opener and lowering themselves from the second story. The trio, William Clancy, Emil Borgeson, and H.
