Montana State Freshmen Attend Week of Activities
Bozeman September events mark freshman week at Montana State College with 630 first year students registered. Dr R B Rennes cautioned that college education is not a universal remedy for world problems and urged growth in physical social cultural and intellectual development while pursuing professional training. The day included placement tests photos health conferences and campus orientation as 770 students registered the previous year.

Jail Sentences and Fines From Local Court
Jail sentences were handed to several men after guilty pleas in county court. FR Shea received 60 days, delayed two hours to allow departure from town, with Judge John Seton presiding. Max Rickman Dennis Delworth Don Stewart and W McDonald also drew 60 days for vagrancy. Six men pleaded guilty to drunkenness and were fined 86 cents each or given two and a half days in jail, while 13 others forfeited bonds of five dollars for failing to answer intoxication charges.

Xnomas P. McDonald died in Independence Kansas Sunday. He left here 15 years ago to make it home with his daughter Tula. The body will arrive Thursday and will be removed to White's funeral home. Interment will be in Mount Mohlah cemetery.
