Sheep and cattle lost in Gravelly Range storm found in part
Ruby and Madison Valley ranchers searched during heavy snow and fog for sheep and cattle. A band of 1000 ewes and 1300 lambs owned by Chris Anderson was found heading toward Wolverine Basin after being moved to Clover Meadow for a blizzard. An additional band owned by Paul Larson followed. One Ennis rancher used a bulldozer to clear a trail, while another located only 11 cattle head and a cattle association recovered several hundred head in Ruby Canyon as fences were broken by the storm. All sheep located Saturday.

Death of Dan OConnell longtime Silver Bow official
Dan J. OConnell lifelong Butte resident and county commissioner died Saturday in a local hospital after illness. He lived at 1108 W Galena and had just begun his first full six year term. Survived by wife Vera daughters and other relatives, with Requiem High Mass set for Tuesday at Immaculate Conception Church and Holy Cross Cemetery burial. Duggan Merril Mortuary oversaw arrangements.
