Butte Man Dies Rescuing Dog in Swift River
Anthony Peter Alaska 46 of Butte disappeared in the Jefferson River Friday while trying to rescue his cocker spaniel Feathers. Divers and sheriffs from three counties continued a daybreak search as Feathers swam to shore. Alaska, a Safeway warehouseman, had boarded with Mrs. Blanche Wheeler and had fished with Fred Christopher. Christopher, shocked by the tragedy, had earlier rushed to aid Alaska. The dog survived and the body search continued at dawn.

Born January 14 1898 in Anaconda he contributed to Rotary Club civic efforts.
