Louis Adpalening Stadler, a Helena native and mining engineer active in Montana politics, died in Baltimore on Thursday while campaigning for re election. He led ties to Governor Ford and had connections across several counties. survived by his widow and sister Mrs John W McGowan Ames Iowa. Funeral services planned in Baltimore.

Edward D. Reece aged 81 and a former Helena fire chief was found dead in his apartment on Broadway. Sheriff Munger said death was due to natural causes given his age. no inquest will be held. Born in Wales in 1884, he came to Helena as a youth, later served as chief, and worked as a plumber and teamfitter after retirement. Surviving are two daughters, six sons, and numerous grandchildren.

Two Helena flyers escaped injury when their four place Stinson plane crash landed along the Helena Missoula McDonald pass highway. Pilot Andy Johnston and passenger Jack Marlow were uninjured after the motor failed 20 minutes after a 6 am takeoff for Kalispell. Johnston guided the craft above 6000 foot terrain and set the plane down with only minor damage along the highway.
