Backpacker finishes 1500 mile Pacific to Mount Jumbo trek
Leland Earls, 35, completed a roughly 1500 mile trek from the Pacific Ocean to his home near Mount Jumbo after June 14 start on the Olympic Peninsula and Pacific Northwest Trail. Friends and neighborhood kids greeted him with signs, balloons, cake, and cheers along Poplar Street as the sun set. The mood shifted from melancholy to joyful.
