Adlai Plans Eastward Swing After Western Campaign

Gov. Adlai E. Stevenson and about 20 advisers mapped strategy for an Eastward tour to leverage the Taft Eisenhower parallel. They reviewed Western trip glitches, noted heavy mail in support, and shifted from train to air travel with a Bridgeport Connecticut stop on Thursday.

Pedestrian Killed on U S Highway 87 Near Klein

Thomas L. Thomas 70 retired coal miner was killed Saturday night after being struck by a car while walking from nearby town to his home in Klein. The accident occurred on U S Highway 87 about 142 miles west of here. Driver William Bickle 18 said he did not see Thomas due to bright lights from another vehicle. Thomas is Montana highway death 155 this year, up from 134 last year.

Germans to Boycott Constitution Draft

West Germany's Social Democrats said the Schuman plan assembly will boycott work on the draft of a European constitution. The assembly in Strasbourg voted to start work on unified West Europe. The German delegation includes members from all major parties.

NATO nations including Britain Denmark and Norway stage maneuvers in the Baltic as part of Operation Mainbrace defending Norway and the Kiel Canal. Dr Paul P Halleck 68 a medical staff member at State Hospital Warm Springs died Sunday afternoon after a brief illness. Born in Colorado Springs he studied art in Philadelphia and designed stained glass windows. A WWI cartoonist for the St Louis Republic he earned medicine at St Louis University. Survived by wife, a son in the Navy in Japan, a daughter in Payton Colo. and a nephew in Anaconda where the body rests in Kendrick funeral home. Funeral and interment planned in Anaconda.

Butte police report a Mexican Chihuahua valued at $100 was shot and killed by a child's air rifle Sunday afternoon. Elmer Main of 2270 West Drive says the dog died instantly from a BB pellet wound in its stomach.

Stolen Pickup Recovered Demolished After Harding Way Roll

A 1946 Dodge pickup stolen from Don Miller on West Mercury was recovered an hour and a half later after rolling over 250 feet down Harding Way. Patrolman William Madlena reported no injuries and noted the truck was stripped of a spotlight and other accessories. Miller reported the theft before leaving to hunt.
