Interest grows in the state university state college football game to be played at Clark Park on October 18. Willard Thompson secretary of the chamber of commerce says many requests for information have come in and a meeting of the chamber athletic committee and representatives is planned to finalize seating and staging details.
The Examiner reports twenty government positions are available for qualified applicants who pass civil service exams. Salaries range from 1600 to 5600 dollars annually. Information and exam dates available at the local federal building bureau offices.
Seventeen newest French army tanks arrive at Lanslebourg Savoy to test Alpine climbing with Alpine troops. They plan to attempt Col de NIbseron then mountain paths normally used by goats. If successful, Alpine tanks become a French army feature. Mexico copper production in 1929 rises nearly one third from 1928.
Scientist T H Goodspeed at the University of California claims X rays and radium exposure can dramatically alter plant growth. Tobacco seeds exposed briefly yield dwarfs and giants with inverted leaf growth, as nuclei in cells respond like a shell explosion reshaping inherited traits.
The late Butte Society Marian White Arts and Crafts Club year book records an organized history from 1905 with 1930 31 activities. Mr and Mrs H M Hartman and their son Ernest have departed for Salt Lake City after visiting Mrs Hartmanns parents Mr and Mrs W G Messias on West Granite. They will travel via Yellowstone National Park.
Mrs Clyde Potter departs for Three Forks to stay a few weeks with friends, outlining a temporary relocation for leisure and social time away from home.
Howard Cole son of Mr and Mrs A H Cole arrived home after a tour of Yellowstone National Park.
Dr. BE. J. Groeneveld and his daughter Mrs. R. Blake with Betty and Robert returned Tuesday from the Groeneveld summer home at Flathead Lake. Mrs. Groeneveld stays longer at the lakeside residence.
Mrs R C Monahan and her daughter Miss Evelyn Monahan arrived home after visiting Seattle Portland and other coastal cities.
Donald Kistler has left for an extended trip to South America. Mr and Mrs E B Woodland and daughter Corey, and Mr and Mrs William T Dee have returned from Salt Lake City where they were house guests of Mr and Mrs Roy E Murray formerly of Butta.
George Floyd will depart for the East today to continue studies at Cornell University. He spent the summer with his mother, Mrs. Jessie Floyd, on West Broadway.
Mr and Mrs W E Schwefel will be guests this week at the summer home of Mr and Mrs Robert Floyd at Georgetown Lake.
Mr and Mrs Robert Floyd and their children Dorothy Marjorie Lee and Virginia Claire spent the summer at their country home at Georgetown Lake and returned home the first part of the week.

The Woman's Missionary Society of Emanuel Lutheran Church hosted a home festival on Friday afternoon at the church hall. Proceeds supported mission work and local outreach programs.

L E Jones described the Jefferson Prairie monument unveiling marking seventy years since the church founding. Miss Ellen Johnson won the social hour guessing contest. An illustrated lecture on Montana’s home field is planned for September 17 at Emmanuel Lutheran church with slides prepared by Rev L E Jones and manuscript by Rev Emeroy Johnson.
William Petherick, the king's gateman at Hyde Park Corner, retires to run a chicken farm in Cornwall. No successor will be appointed leaving only William Anker, Secretary for Scotland, to continue the tradition. Anker offers services if Bowhill Rovers need a full back.
