India claimed a major battlefield victory over Pakistan on the north west plains as U Thant arrived in New Delhi for a peace mission. Butte Man Hit and Killed by Car in Downtown
Arvo Armas Pakka 48, of 212 S Idaho died at 1 05 a m Sunday at Silver Bow General Hospital from injuries after being struck by a car earlier on a downtown Butte street. The collision occurred near Montana and Silver streets as Pakka crossed the intersection. The driver, Columbus Cotton 35, of 3609 Oregon, was southbound and stopped about 40 feet from the impact. Police say Pakka stepped into the path from southwest to northeast, near the middle of the four lane street, in rainy conditions. Autopsy cites a broken pelvis and massive hemorrhaging with multiple bruises. The death is Butte’s third this year and Silver Bow County’s eighth auto fatality in 1965.

Minister's son and teacher killed in separate Montana crashes
Montana reported two fatal accidents over the weekend, raising the state's highway deaths to 182. George Tollefson, 20, son of a Billings minister, died in a three car crash on Billings West Side, while 28 year old Karel Maracek, a Flaxville teacher, died when his car left the highway near Poplar.
