Roosevelt administration emergency program directors plan direct action to enforce NRA job creation goals and end code violations by employers displaying the blue eagle. NRA chief Hugh S. Johnson said he would announce steps within a day or two to curb violations and safeguard the farm recovery program, with George N. Peek warning of risks to farm aid efforts.
In Vienna Chancellor Engelbert Dollfuss proclaimed that parliamentary government in Austria had ended and he aimed to establish a dictatorship along fascist lines. George M Sunday aged 40 son of evangelist Billy Sunday died in San Francisco from injuries after a fall from a fourth floor apartment window Thursday night. He passed away tonight in the city hospital with authorities stating it was an accidental fall.
Senator Key Pittman told a Salt Lake City luncheon that the London conference silver agreement clears a path for remonetizing silver in the United States. He urged the president to authorize accepting newly mined silver by U.S. mints and returning it as coins with a minting fee, warning Congress may act within 30 days if the president lacks power.
