Edward E. Werner, 51, of Whitehall died Friday morning at his ranch home in Pleasant Valley after a short illness. Born in Winona Minnesota he came to Montana in law. He married Marie B Elmer in 194? He was a Lutheran and member of Mystic Tie lodge AF and AM. Survived by wife two sons Jewell F and Edward Jr of Whitehall two sisters Mrs Linda Barnes Clairmont California and Mrs Denise Jacob Winona a brother Otto Chiongs Funeral services will be held at 2 pm Monday in the Masonic hall Whitehall Rev Georgy Reid officiating. Burial in Fish Creek cemetery.

Rescue Crew Rescues Men Stranded at Icy Point Alaska
Eight men stranded for four days and nights at Icy Point Alaska were aboard the Coast Guard cutter Citrus headed to safety. Lt Ralph Burns commander of the Citrus and six guardsmen were part of the rescue. Details of the two rescue attempts and the men’s condition were announced with initial reports saying all were in good condition.
