East Glacier AP Bishop James A. Pike of California was cleared on the heresy issue by Episcopal bishops. On a side note they declined to ordain a woman deacon. Pike apologized to the House of Bishops and vowed not to allow deaconess Phyllis Edwards to serve Holy Communion. Theology committee spent days creating statements. Pike offered a counter statement. He blamed the media for some misunderstandings and stressed the church’s faith in Scriptures creeds and prayers. Missoula County added two more names to its traffic death toll bringing the year to 22 after separate one car crashes. Elmer G. Opitz 49 of Missoula died after his car plunged into the Clark Fork River and Allen Ray Beuttal 24 of Missoula died in a curve crash on U S 93 south of the city. A man and a teenage girl suspected in four killings were arrested in Flagstaff Arizona. Donald Bogs 23 and Dixie Radcliff 16 Athens Ohio were identified as the suspects.
