James Roosevelt, the president’s eldest son, was reported missing at sea then found safe in Portland, Maine. A coast guard search with over 30 craft and planes from Gloucester and Cape May followed rumors of the Black Arrow with three amateur sailors aboard.
Paul Bohart a mine employee was injured when his motorcycle ran off an embankment after three men blocked the road on Anaconda Road. Bohart suffered a broken left arm multiple cuts and bruises. A crowd jeered as a passerby carried him to a hospital.
Helena reports the Most Rev Ralph L Hayes bishop of Helena will depart tomorrow evening for an ad limina visit to Rome. In his absence Rt Rev Victor Day will act as administrator and supervise diocese affairs. Monsignor Day has previously acted as administrator during vacancies.

George Schrom a Meaderville resident suffered severe burns covering most of his body from the knees to the head after pouring gasoline on a kitchen stove and igniting it. He was found wandering in a daze with most of his clothes burned. Doctors at St James hospital say he is dying. The blast is believed to have occurred about 30 hours prior on Saturday morning. Police officers collected details after neighbors alerted them.
Negotiations continue at 10 this morning between the Mine, Mill and Smeltermen’s union and Anaconda Copper Mining company officials. Federal mediators P. W. Chappell and R. C. Jacobson say the talks aim to settle the strike affecting Butte Anaconda and Great Falls.

With two large fires in the Selway forest under control officials expect the remaining to be stopped during the night. The Swan River district reported the last unchecked fire should be controlled today or tomorrow.
Justice Winston Overton of the Louisiana Supreme Court died suddenly at his New Orleans home. He had been a candidate to seek another term in the Democratic primary and was backed by Senator Huey P. Long's organization.

Harold Taylor, 28, was found not guilty by a Jefferson circuit court jury in Birmingham of slashing the throat of Faye New, 19, an Howard College student, during an August 20 automobile ride. The 26 hour jury deliberation ended as Taylor wept and his attorney fainted in the courtroom.
About 200 guests escaped via stairways and fire escapes when fire broke out at the Hotel Brunswick in Boston. The blaze halted a stopover for visiting major league baseball teams but no injuries were reported as the early checks showed.
Washington reports a flat industry rejection of labor truce terms for the textile strike. Union leader Francis Gorman warned the proposal would be withdrawn by tomorrow at 6 pm. Industry spokesman George Sloan deemed the truce plan utterly impossible. A meeting with arbitration board is planned, with negotiations to follow after Tuesday. In South Carolina, the strike violence death toll rose to 11 as Charles L. Rucker died after being wounded during a confrontation at Chiquola Mills Honea Path.
Chief Officer William C. Worms led 10 of 14 Morro Castle crew ashore from the Tampa after remaining on the burning bridge through smoky decks and rough seas. The 11th survivor, Radio Operator George W. Rogers of Bayonne, collapsed from smoke and lung injury.
Coast Guard officer R. W. Hodge reports Morro Castle is a scorching shell with iron hot enough to blister hands and shoes. He details beached ship rescue by local fire crews and breeches buoy rigging as he boarded the liner around nine or ten o clock, noting possible casualties if anyone remained below.
