Challenge to police court levies on driver education fund
In district court attorney John L. Peterson filed a petition on behalf of Tom Sanders challenging Chapter 226 of the 1965 Montana laws. Judge James D. Freebourn issued an alternative writ of prohibition to the City of Butte to show cause why it should not be restrained from collecting money for the fund from violators or forfeiting bonds. Sanders was to be tried in police court Monday. The city holds about $9,928 for the driver education fund. The case continues.
