About 9 600 public school students are expected to fill Butte classrooms Wednesday as classes start with 8 35 for elementaries 8 30 for junior highs and 8 25 for Butte High School. Bus service and hot lunch programs begin at the same time with the vo tech center also starting.
Nine women were arrested in Pontiac Michigan after blocking a school bus with chained wrists during an antibusing protest. Bomb threat forced evacuation of a junior high school. Other cities reported quiet openings under court orders to desegregate via busing.
The Anaconda Company and 14 Montana unions shifted labor talks to Washington following a federal mediation request. A Tuesday meeting in Butte was canceled. About 6,100 Montana workers are affected, with two thirds already having accepted the contract offer while 11 craft unions reject it citing productivity terms. The group planned a Thursday conference with Anaconda officials and union leaders.
Seven men died and two were injured when a 1300 foot television antenna collapsed in Shoreview near St Paul. Fire and rescue teams recovered four more bodies from the wreckage. Damages exceed 1 million dollars. The tower shared by WCCO TV KSTP TV and WTCN went down trapping workers and injuring two at the WCCO engin eering office.
Butte District Judge John B. McClernan ordered the Montana Public Service Commission to show cause why it should not be barred from further action in Montana Power Co. rate case. The PSC must appear Sept. 16 in Helena and a hearing on a proposed 17 percent electric and 34 percent natural gas rate hike is set for Sept. 17. The show cause order follows a request by Helena lawyers Morris and Gottwig to block PSC hearings, representing consumers Guy Maycumber and Darrell Farmer.
Prime Ministers Edward Heath and Jack Lynch wrap a two day Dublin London summit in chill disagreement over Ireland partition and UK rule in Northern Ireland. Violence flares in Londonderry as a 14 year old girl is killed amid crossfire on the walls. Lynch says no immediate settlement, but officials expect further talks this fall.
The City County board accepted a four part plan for Butte and Silver Bow County. The study aims to evaluate the central business district life expectancy at 30 to 40 years and potential urban renewal impacts. Budget figures include 5100 for staff study and 52000 for the master plan with 1990 growth projections. Local officials cited Anaconda Co. data and independent research in formulating conclusions.
Two women died and a man was seriously injured in a two car head-on collision on Interstate 90 at Bozeman Hill about 15 miles east of Bozeman. Names were withheld pending relatives notification. victims were from California and Washington.

He cites experiments with four religious groups showing jokes about the self side with winners and losers. He notes laughter also arises from embarrassment fear or tension and that humor may be directed at a group without targeting the jokeeer.
