Butte Leaders Honored at Seventh Mining Convention

Eagles Lodge Forms Yearly Standing Committees

Butte Stockyards Hosts Thousands of Lambs on Hoof

Butte welcomed several thousand sheep from Washington and Idaho at the new public stockyards on Sunday. Hitchhiker Accused of Auto Theft Held in County Jail

Jack McFarland, 31, is jailed on auto theft charges after a ranch arrest near Glen late Saturday night. Sheriff Al McLeod said McFarland was picked up by George Scott of Missoula while Scott was driving from Dillon. McFarland rode with him to Butte and waited in the car in front of the Finlen hotel while Scott checked something inside.

The first snowfall of the season touched Butte Sunday with a light, hour long fall from 6:45 to 7:45 AM. Temperatures ranged from 36 to 44 degrees as rain interludes occurred later. Mountain areas reported white coverage and the mercury sank only slowly.
