Residents return from trips and students leave as summer wanes. Out-of-door activities hold popularity while events calendar compliments visiting guests and departing students with noted social affairs.
Society notes mark summer fading as fall brings traveling pupils back to Butte. Preparations for school, resumed studies, and a busy social calendar whirl around golf, tennis, and hospitality at the Butte Country Club as visitors and students depart.
R and Mrs Frank M Kerr hosted a Wednesday evening dinner at their West Park Street home in compliment to Frank Sillman of New York. A yellow garden flower basket centered the table with all appointments in the same color. Fourteen guests attended.
Miss Doris Gribben held a Tuesday evening birthday celebration for her thirteenth year with 21 guests. Games contests and a midnight luncheon were enjoyed by attendees.
RS. A. J. Davis Jr. added a luncheon and bridge to the social calendar for the past week. The event was held Friday afternoon at her country home at Nez Perce Lake. The season's flowers decorated the table and after luncheon cards were played.
Mr and Mrs J Bruce Kremer accompanied by Mr and Mrs Robert Olin Young of San Francisco motored to Anaconda on Labor Day to visit with friends.
Mr and Mrs Thomas C Griffiths visited friends in Butte and Helena and have left for home by motor car. They traveled during the stay to see local sights and return to their home location.
Miss Claudia Woodward daughter of C D Woodward and Mrs Woodward wed Frank Waddell Hooper son of Dr Edward W Hooper at noon yesterday at St Johns Episcopal church. The ceremony featured organ music by Miss Violet Laity, floral arrangements, and a reception at the bride’s home. The couple will reside in Butte after a two week wedding trip.
The weekly social register notes a Tuesday dinner hosted by Mr. and Mrs. John L. Teal honoring Mrs. Sam Treloar and Miss Ruby Treloar of Los Angeles and Mrs. Ray Turner of Poison. Pink and orchid sweet peas decorated the table and cards marked covers for Mr. and Mrs. Sam Treloar, with many local couples in attendance.

Mr and Mrs Newton FE Congdon and their young son Robert Newton depart for Salt Lake City after a summer visit with Mrs Congdon’s parents Mr and Mrs Charles J Stone in town.
Mr and Mrs Frank Reardon along with Mrs L H Beuthian and Miss Louise Beuthien departed for an extended visit to coast cities, traveling together for the trip.
From San Francisco Mr and Mrs Robert Olin Young and their daughter Patricia Ann arrived Monday for a visit with Mrs Youngs parents Mr and Mrs J Bruce Kremer
Mr and Mrs J J Haggerty and their children, with Mrs T P McDonald and her daughter, started the week traveling to Missoula to visit friends.
Eleanor Craven daughter of Mr and Mrs George W Craven departed during the week for an extended visit in Washington DC with the Craven family noted.
An entertaining dinner dance at the Butte Country Club hosted by the entertainment committee with George Nelson as chairman featured abundant late summer flowers. Guests formed numerous host and no host groups as Palmer's orchestra supplied lively music for dancing after a 7 o'clock dinner.
A Delta Gamma luncheon at the Butte Country Club drew a large table setting with summer flowers. Notables from Anaconda Miss Mary Lou Warner Margaret Gaines and others attended along with Helena guests and Missoula and Missoula area members.
R. and Mrs. John C. Ryan entertained twelve guests at a weekend house party at their country home on Nez Perce Lake. The gathering featured informal socializing and games in a relaxed rural setting.
Miss Lenore Smith arrives in Butte to visit her parents Mr and Mrs Louis Smith and sister Mrs H Benner before leaving Monday for Spokane to spend a few days with friends prior to returning south.
Mr and Mrs Jack Lacy leave Monday for Meridian Mississippi to visit relatives and friends. After their visit they plan to settle in Portland.

A pastel mound of sweet peas decorated the table and place cards named Miss Phyllis Fisher and other guests including Miss Jane Adams Miss Ruth Russell Miss Caroline McDaniel Miss Kathryn Woolfolk Miss Mary Montana MacDonald Miss Mary Hobbins and the hostess, as Miss Fisher leaves tomorrow for Ohio to attend school.
Mr and Mrs 8 J Perry and daughters Alice and Doris returned Saturday from a visit at Hamilton.
Miss Frances Meade arrived home Monday evening after a vacation trip along the Pacific coast.
Mrs J H Lee and her son Charles left Saturday for their home in Lewiston Idaho after visiting Mrs 8 Phillips.
Miss Esther LaHood has returned home after visiting Lewistown where she stayed with friends.
Mr and Mrs B E Cooley visit Billings as guests of Mr and Mrs C Logan joined by Mrs Mabel Hill Miss Iola Hill and Edward Hill spending a few days in the city as noted in local society notices.
The Senior society of St. Mark's Lutheran church held a picnic at Thompson Park during the week. Outdoor games and contests provided amusement and a picnic luncheon was served. Attendees included Rev. M Hudtloff, Mrs M Heinzleman, and numerous members such as Louise Scherer Florentine Eno Dorothy Dunn Elsie White Margaret Deidrick Marie Kurtz Ruby Deidrick Margaret Kurtz Ruby Rundell Edna Burrough Dorothy Moran Walter Heinazleman Paul Edward William Eno William Honka Arthur Honka Fred Proehl Clarence Rundell and Timothy Keefe.
The Welsh Ladies Aid society met Thursday afternoon at Mrs. Reese Jones on Colorado street. Members enjoyed needlework and music after completing the business session.
Mr and Mrs William Fritz and family depart for Dubois Idaho to spend several weeks visiting relatives and reshaping their travel plans.

Mr and Mrs Arthur Lenzi and their children left for Chicago after a three week stay with Mrs Lenzi s mother Mrs John Novak of 116 Pine street They toured Yellowstone park and other scenic points in Montana during their visit.
Alex J. Johnston left Monday for his country home at Bear Gulch after a few days in the city.
