Police and federal officers raided Meaderville twice in a single afternoon capturing a distillery at 212 North Main with two stills and 53 mash barrels and a nearby brewery at 118 North Main with six 300 gallon vats and bottling gear. Two men, John Muller and Frank Smith, were arrested and arraigned on liquor manufacture and possession charges. Muller posted bond, Smith jailed. Officers Jere Murphy, Joe Powell, and Ben Holter led the operation.
