Montana Power gains higher utility rates on 21 to 11 percent mix

Montana Power Co. won a 9.3 percent overall rate increase approved by the State Public Service Commission on a 21 vote. Electric rates rise 11 percent and natural gas 19 percent with residential bills up about $1.26 and $2.44 monthly respectively. Great Falls Gas also raises rates by 19 percent.

Munich Olympics Terror Ends In Blood Bath

Arab commandos killed eleven Israeli athletes at the Munich Games and hijacked nine more. The attackers and hostages were moved by helicopter to a nearby airport where police opened fire. four militants were killed, three captured, one unaccounted for, and a helicopter pilot wounded.

Dr. Shaul Ladany a 36 year old Tel Aviv professor and 19th in the 50 kilometer walk describes how guards misread four attackers as athletes, the dormitory raid began around 4 a.m. with gunfire and hostage taking as Moshe Weinberg and others were forced to reveal others' locations. The incident halted the Games with a memorial for killed Israelis and a later airport gun battle and hostage slaughter.

Berrigan and Harrisburg Seven Sentenced in Smuggling Case

Daniel Berrigan and a nun who acted as his lieutenant in an alleged plot to kidnap a trial adviser were sentenced Tuesday to federal prison terms for smuggling letters in and out of jail. The government said no new trials would be sought for the Harrisburg Seven on conspiracy charges. Berrigan, 48, already serving a six year term for destroying draft board files in 1968, received two years on each of four counts.

Strike tensions rise as ALPA cites strikebreaker concerns

MINNEAPOLIS AP New rifts opened Tuesday between the Airlines Pilot Association and Northwest Airlines while federal mediator Harry Bickford met with both sides. A quick settlement did not appear likely as ALPA spokesman Robert Rezanka said pilots seek an investigation into possible use of strikebreakers by Northwest.
